Study in Cyprus: Student Visa / Immigration Requirements for Non EU students

All international students need an entry visa to Cyprus. For certain nationalities, student visas are issued in Cyprus whereas for others, they will need to apply for a student visa from the Cyprus Embassy / Consulate in the student’s country of citizenship. International students will have to satisfy the following visa/immigration requirements:

  • Original Bank Letter of Financial Support. (In English) International students must submit an official bank statement of financial support indicating that their sponsor (father or mother) has the ability to finance their studies and living expenses at a University/College in Cyprus
  • An Original Letter of Good Conduct from Police Authorities. (In English) International students must submit an official letter of good conduct from local police authorities in their country of residence indicating clear criminal record.
  • Copy of a valid passport.
  • Two Passport size photographs.
  • Health Certificates. Students who originate from Central and South Africa must also submit health certificates for the Aids virus, hepatitis ‘B’ and syphilis.

An International student who has been accepted at a University/College in Cyprus will need an entry visa to Cyprus. The University will handle all required paperwork for the issuance of a student visa provided the items listed above reach us at least one month prior to the beginning of courses; otherwise, we cannot guarantee the issuance of a student visa, and therefore, entry into Cyprus. We will fax a copy of the visa to the student as soon as it has been issued. International students from China, India, Iran, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Syria will need to apply for a student visa from the Cyprus Embassy/Consulate from their country of origin.

Students will be given a Temporary Student Visa at Larnaca Airport. A Permanent Student Visa will be issued after students arrive at the University/College and complete all necessary admission, registration and payment requirements. Furthermore, international students holding a student visa must be enrolled for full-time study (minimum three courses per semester).
